Lasvit has created a bespoke lighting installation for Gerbou, a prestigious restaurant in Dubai that merges culinary innovation with deep cultural roots. Positioned prominently in the grand lobby, the installation is visible through the restaurant’s glass entrance, offering an immediate visual prelude to the dining experience.
The lighting installation builds upon our signature "Herbarium" design concept. For Gerbou, the iconic Ghaff tree—a beloved symbol of the UAE—served as the central inspiration. Branches and leaves were carefully imprinted into molten glass to closely resemble the delicate structure of Ghaff foliage.
Some components of the installation feature luxurious golden accents, harmoniously complementing the restaurant’s warm interior palette of wood and beige. Lasvit’s Head Designer Mária Čulenová closely collaborated with acclaimed interior designer Kristina Zanic, ensuring the piece flawlessly integrates into the carefully designed interior.
„The glass lighting pieces are arranged to interact harmoniously with the reception counter, crafted from a solid tree trunk. This interplay between hand-blown designer glass and natural wood enhances the organic design narrative woven throughout the interior,“ says Lasvit’s Head Designer Mária Čulenová.
Gerbou is the result of a collaboration between Tashkeel and Atelier House Hospitality. This partnership has created a sophisticated space celebrating Emirati heritage through contemporary culinary art. Remarkably, Lasvit completed the entire bespoke lighting project—from design through production to delivery—in just one month, highlighting its commitment to craftsmanship, precision, and flexibility.
