Concept

Symphony by name, the lighting sculpture is lit by nearly 3000 LED sources and sparkles with thousands of hand-blown crystal components. In its profound structure, it bears the symbolism of both the innumerable sand grains of the desert and water drops of the ocean.

In the beginning there was a sketch… It all started from a sketch… A sketch is a sketch is a sketch… Well, you know how it goes.

Innovation

Along with the Mahidol University and the National Bank of Kuwait, this is one of our key dynamic installations. The whole structure is connected to the Opera data network and can be operated from an iPad or a smartphone. Just think what beauty you can hold in the palm of your hand.

Production

Fishing net swirling myriads of opalescent bubbles in the depth of the ocean – such was the image that inspired the Symphony lighting installation. A shining stream composed of tiny hand-blown glass pearls.

Components

Each of the 3000 crystal drops is fitted with a special chip to control the light. Composing crystal and electronic elements was in this case extremely demanding for precision and attention. Especially with so many pieces. But the result is breathtaking.

Light in space

The Symphony installation percolates 3 storeys of the Dubai Opera. The 5-ton light set consists of a net of thousand crystal drops fishing around for symphonies of light.
