Our everyday life consists of doing something meaningful. We meet people who think about what they do. We cannot influence if we will be here in a year. We only can influence the moment we are here.
Gabriela Náhlíková is a qualified architect, a fact which often transpires in her custom design work. She freely moves through twentieth-century European art history, but always retains a deeper understanding for the world of art. As a designer, she chooses motifs that are alluring to her, combines them, juxtaposes them with each other, and correlates and elaborates them in a multitude of ways. Her work’s classic design, together with her use of visual projection, merges into an unexpected form of ‘romantic functionalism’ whose impression on the viewer is timeless. Among the essential features of her works is a soothing form whose rebellious, light playfulness opposes the inertia of history. Her work breaks free from the burden of convention, and through her fresh approach Náhlíková conjures up a feeling of modern curiosity.
